Collections of the Museum Foundation Post and Telecommunications

Objects tell the story of communication history

The collections of the Museum Foundation Post and Telecommunications document the historical development of the postal and telecommunications sector in its many forms. However, the legal mandate of the Museum Foundation to develop, collect and present the “development of communication and the related banking, goods and passenger traffic in the postal and telecommunications sector” considerably broadens the spectrum of collecting areas – all the way to the multi-faceted manifestations of communication in the present and future.

The Philatelic Archive documents the history of philately from the first postage stamps to the latest special issue stamp. In addition to valuable rarities and hot-off-the-press new issues, the collection also includes original designs, preprints, postal stationery, used letters, printing blocks and seals. The most famous exhibit is the Blue Mauritius.
